HR&A Advisors asked us to build a product that would help local communities identify, pursue, and stay updated with the latest federal funding opportunities for infrastructure projects.
A product was needed to help users quickly and better understand the parameters for funding and program suggestions for federal funding.
Community development organizations often have difficulty accessing federal funding because they lack the capacity to navigate the complex application process and unclear requirements.
To bridge this gap and help these organizations match their projects with available federal funding, we worked with HR&A to design and develop the HR&A Infrastructure Funding Navigator (IFN)
We developed a web-app that allows users to input the details of their community development project and find federal funding opportunities that match their project type, location, project cost, and other criteria. The app filters 350+ federal infrastructure funding and financing programs, including those approved by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) as well as legacy programs.
Users can also view a list of ever growing federal programs to view all available funding opportunities even if their project isn’t the right fit.
We also designed an assessment tool where users can view their project’s “readiness score” which helps evaluate how their project aligns with general principles and priorities of the federal government.
